"What is a book without pictures?" said Alice. This wonderful quotation from one of the Alice books is true, but of course not totally true. However, the content, the layout, and the recipes make this book worth far more than its cost. And it is beautifully pictured. It is not a big book, nor does it need to be for me.>>Each page is packed with gorgeous pictures and/or drawings to support the text.>>The 21 pages of Introductory material include: The story of; Making; Appreciating; Storing; Serving; and Cooking. 18-21 include recipes.>>Pages 22-31 include: Table Olives; Aromatic Oils (recipes for 6); Preserved in Oil (9 recipes); Uncooked sauces (9 recipes + 1 on page 33).>>The bulk of the book, pages 32-61, is organized by 23 Denominations (Brands?) and 12 coordinating Regions of Production. Page 32 contains this information in a labeled map and a chart. Neither these nor the following pages 34-61 are arranged alphabetically or in the exact order of the chart. I believe I would better understand the organizing principle were I Italian, etc. Pages contain area maps (just cut-out images from page 32), photographs, drawings, and one or more recipes for each 1-4 page section.>>Pages 62-64 contain the Index and Credits. The images are numerous and varied. Congratulations to everyone involved in producing this delightful "eye-candy" informative book.
